Into the attic

Last evening I was rummaging in my attic for a few bags of old kid clothes for "E". She was collecting stuff for the Helping Hand Mission which donates all their children stuff to foster families in the area. Anyway, while up there I noticed a few small boxes in the corner of the attic. Well, considering we don't use the attic for anything other than to store old clothing I went over to investigate.

And it turns out there are a bunch of old first edition collector edition Barbie dolls, three of them as Marilyn Monroe. None of them have been opened, and while the boxes have seen better days, the dolls inside look like they are in perfect condition.

Does anyone know anything about Barbie dolls? Are these worth anything? Or should I just give them to DQ?

Don't put them up for sale on eBay until you check out what they are selling for there. You don't want to pay to list them there if nobody is buying right now. I got burned with hotwheels like that once....but yes..eBay.

You're rich! Well, maybe not, but you'll make some money off of those :)

Yes, I agree with everyone else... Ebay is the way to go.

Here's a snippet of what you might expect.

are they from your ex?

Make sure she won't come after you to get them back...

Yes, ebay is good; do your homework first and sell them as a LOT (all together, in one group) - you get get more interest that way, probably more bids, and then only have to ship them out one time, to one person, in one box!

No, these are not from my ex. This is the house I bought after we split. I've been here a little over two years now.

Yea, check out what others are selling for.
I'm not sure I'd sell them as a lot.. sometimes lots don't sell as well.. I'd just check ebay to see what other lots of similar items are selling.

I buy a lot of ebay stuff.. I mean really, like every day.
It's kind of scary.

yeah, whenever i'm not sure what something is worth, i'll check on ebay to see what people are paying for it.

thanks for the visit, joe. nice to meet you!

Dude - I am no eggspurt.., but I am positive they are collectors editions. You should look them up on Ebay or someplace and see what the prices are - THEN - wait ten years and sell them for bigger money

OR - SAVE THEM FOR YOUR DAUGHTER, till she's married or whatever, and give them to her. The value should be fairly well ripe, and let her decide if she wants to hang on to them or sell them. Its the coolest thing a Dad can do for his daughter. IN MY OPINION, for whatever thats worth.

Lastly - if you save then and hit on hard times, you can raise some "get by" cash. Maybe.

It looks like everyone else has done their homework on these, but I seem to remember seeing these fairly recently. Do you know if they're truly collector's items, or just newer items that were packaged to look like older editions? If they're valuable, I'd sell 'em!

eBay or craigslist them!!! they arent worth millions - but as a package could be worth a couple hunderd or more (i wish i knew how to reach my one cousin Pam - shes a pro Barbie collector) :)

I don't know anything about Barbies, but these look kind of new to me. I think they might not be as old as they seem, but they're definitely collector's items. I'd check the prices for them and if they're not too high I would hang on to them.

I'd definitely think about ebay also, and maybe even contacting a high-ranking seller on ebay and asking for a tip. They can be surprisingly accomodating to newbies especially if you 'happen' to buy something from them and leave excellent feedback lol.

Best of luck!

I also have a box of Barbie (Collector's) that my daughter has no interest in. They are worth almost nothing.

Look them up on ebay and see what they are going for.

Advise: Donate them.

I also have three computer monitor boxes (yeah, that's big) full of Beanies and Buddies. Worthless.
